Thinking Day 2/21/08

Thinking Day Update: February 21st, Saturday, at Wetzel Elementary. Event will run 1-3, with set-up starting at 12 noon. Please list all ingredients for the food that is being prepared (due to allergies). Committee will be dropping off presentation boards to the hut; each troop can grab one. Passports are also being made by the committee. Those will be available at the February leaders meeting. Troop Country Assignments: Costa Rica (Troop 808); Iceland/Canada (Troop 484); Egypt (Troop 243); Australia (Troop 809); Thailand (Troop 077); Fiji (Troop 505); Jordan or Kenya (Troop 416).

o Chairs: Cantresa Gillespie and Suzanne Martinez
o Committee Volunteers: Jennifer Devincey and Celia Romick

Thinking Day Update: Theme is “We can stop the spread of Diseases”.

Tentative Location: Wetzel Multi-purpose room at WES.

Troops should plan the following: food samples, display (a tri-fold, cardboard, display will be provided from committee), swap-it’s, presentation and performance.

Troops should also know at least 5 common phrases from their country (Hello, Good-bye, Please, Thank-You, etc…) and provide a sticker or stamp to mark each “tourist’s” passport.

Committee will provide the passports and travel bags (for collections of materials and swap-its).

Note: Food and Swap-its are only for GIRL SCOUTS- not families!

The committee selected 7 different countries from 6 continents.

Those at the leaders meeting were given first choice of countries:

o Costa Rica- 808
o Iceland/Canada (Troop 484)
o Egypt (Troop 243)
o Australia (Troop 809)
o Fiji (Troop 505)

§ The following troops still need to choose: 077, 416

§ Countries left : Jordan/Kenya or Thailand/Cambodia.
